Left-hand traffic, speed limits and tips
IMPORTANT: North Cyprus drives on the LEFT side of the road. If you're from a right-hand traffic country, take extra care at junctions and roundabouts. We recommend renting an automatic car for easier adjustment.
Traffic flows on the LEFT side in North Cyprus (like UK). Steering wheel is on the RIGHT side of the car.
Urban areas: 50 km/h | Main roads: 80 km/h | Highways: 100 km/h. Speed cameras are common.
Mandatory for all passengers. Fines apply for non-compliance.
Give way to traffic coming from the RIGHT (already in the roundabout). Enter from the LEFT lane.
Blood alcohol limit is 0.05%. Strictly enforced, especially at night.
Using a mobile phone while driving is prohibited. Use hands-free only.
Dipped headlights must be used at all times outside urban areas.
Yellow lines = no parking. Blue lines = paid parking. White lines = free parking.
